Started to go to the gym but wondering if I should do the treadmill before or after weight machines. I’m focused on lean muscle gain while growing my glutes especially. Will doing cardio after weights negate my hard work as it burns muscle
We have similar goals but I will tell you from experience. If you want to gain muscle, you shouldn't be doing a ton of cardio. While cardio will not kill your gains, it can slow down your progress if you are overdoing it. You should be focusing on eating properly and lifting heavy weights. If you are doing those properly, you really should not need a ton of cardio. Sure, do it as a warm up or if you really enjoy it but do not feel that you need to be doing endless amounts of cardio to lose fat and gain muscle. Yes cardio does burn muscle fibers. And also, glutes take a looooong time to grow. Like months. Sometimes a year. You can't grow your glutes (or muscles in general) and being trying to lose weight at the same time. They are opposing goals. You have to basically pick one at a time. I didn't see real progress in my glutes until I started eating more. Yes I've gain a little bit elsewhere too but it looks proportional. Now I am turning back to trying to shed the excess lbs.
