Doing some investigation, it looks like the current BOE compensation is $25,000, but there was a commission back in 2019 that made the recommendation that salaries be increased to $60k for members, $70k for the president. Looks like it will take effect after the November 2022 election? So that’s interesting. Still paltry when you look at how much they’re responsible for (hell, do MCPS janitors make more??) but it’s about to get better. Still, neither my husband or I could run for office and still have enough money to support our family of 4 in Wheaton. I have an advanced degree in education policy, he has a career in government relations- but there’s no way we could afford to take one of these BOE positions.[/quote]
