If your kids aren’t academic superstars then Kettle Run HS is fine. Not the best and brightest but your kids will get a perfectly fine education. You know what you are getting in Fauquier County and sounds that’s what you are looking for.
I think there are two posters here thinking of possibly moving to FCounty. I am the OP. Well actually your question is interesting . We are in a school district that boasts the best and brightest by virtue of most of the parents living in 1.5+ homes-so think kids of lawyers and lawyers and small business contractors for the fed-POLICY and then some DMV BIG LAW lawyers LOL. Obviously parents put a lot of energy into kids education and school is one of the top 5 in NOVA-maybe Top ie number 1 as per some ,however with that being said I dont see many genius kids around. Would my kids go to TJ pre VADOE changes? NO, but are my kids in top 10th percentile based on grades/test scores in this school--yes, so no genius superstars but very solid students. I did look at course offerings and with the exception of not being able to access foreign language until grade 8 (our school starts at grade 7) and having HS World history in 9th grade(ours is in 8th grade) i dont see much difference, well FCounty doesnt offer IB so only AP-but otherwise looks the same. I guess the question is how rigorous these honors courses are and is there a peer group that would competitively push them to think as academics as an "in" thing. I am really looking for down to earth kids that care about schools and that there is a peer group of real friends, kids hanging out but not doing drugs. As the PP said thinking of moving beyond just saving money on taxes and house, but also looking for political diversity and where people are not offended that you don't vote like them. I am also looking at an area where the kids wont mask for ever and get boosters every 5 months for eternity and be shunned if their parents believe that Fauci isnt the only COVID scientist in the world.
You aren’t going to find Political Diversity there. It’s pretty much all Republican, which sounds like what you want and would be a great fit for you. People there are offended if you don’t vote like them but won’t be a issue because you’ll fit in just fine. Enjoy your new life!
