My guess of what’s happening is that Hucker joined the race intentionally to screw over Riemer, because he certainly doesn’t have a chance of winning in his own.

Blair is hard to read. He seems like he’d be a competent alternative and outsider, but his relationship with Enpower Montgomery just makes him potentially another bit player in our local - and very corrupted - politics. His claims of being unaffiliated with Empower Montgomery ring hollow because their website listed him as a co-founder for years and now he says it’s not true? Silveman, who is one of the people behind Empower Montgomery, is legitimately bad.

Riemer is the most untrustworthy of them all and objectively the worst candidate. He’ll get in bed with anyone and anything that will further Hans Riemer. So he’s tried to endear himself with Empower Montgomery and also Trone/Franchot but he’s so obviously lacks scruples that it doesn’t seem that he really has any allies. Instead, he thinks that winking 3 at-large races running on Obama’s name is meaningful (notably he doesn’t seem to have any strong connections with Obamaworld despite supposedly having such an important role in his campaign). He’s going to join George Leventhal in figuring out how far that gets you in this county.

Elrich on the other hand, love him or hate him, developed countywide support from his at large seat because he actually represented the whole county. That’s why he was able to get more votes than Blair last time in places like Poolesville and pockets of Bethesda.

I personally would be willing to vote for Blair if he actually comes out publicly on his position on Thrive. That will tell a lot about where he sits and what he will do as executive. I do like his plans promoting increased public investment along Georgia Avenue though. [/quote]
