ISO ideas for my niece. She is newly 12, in 7th grade and basically has everything she wants but is a lovely, sweet, unspoiled and hardworking kid so I definitely want to get her a nice gift or two for Christmas. I also am spending the holidays with her family for the first time in 2 years so really looking forward to that! I’m already doing an “experience” gift for the whole family, and she doesn’t like to shop to the idea of taking her out shopping won’t work. She redid her room about 2 years ago so she doesn’t need room stuff, she loves to sing, act and plays several sports (volleyball, basketball, she’s an excellent skier). Loves to bake and cook but they have a beautiful huge kitchen with every gadget imaginable. She’s a recent vegetarian but of course she said she has several vegetarian cookbooks already (and the internet…) Her parents have $$$$$ and she basically can get whatever she wants, within reason. Any interesting, out of the box ideas?
And yet she’s not spoiled, you say?
She doesn’t seem to be. For example, she recently needed a pair of white sneakers for a performance and she felt that the ones her mom got were too expensive at $60, and asked if that was ok because she didn’t want to spend too much just for one show (it was hard to find sneakers in her size that were all white for less, and I don’t think she realizes that $60 isn’t a lot for adult sized shoes). She regularly volunteers, helps younger kids in her school with reading, buys food for homeless people she sees and she and her family cook a meal for their synagogue’s homeless shelter frequently. She’s a sweet, polite and very kind kid. Yes, she has a lot of privilege but she seems to understand that and know she shouldn’t behave like a brat.
