Sorry, first paragraph was a confusing mess!

What I meant was that we buy more *food* now (of course!), but that a smaller percentage of it is restaurant food, and that the establishments that it comes from are less expensive on average.

This means the total spend for all food is about the same, even with an extra, albeit small, person.[/quote]
