She did. And in this case - the world is seeing how abusive the Japanese imperial family is. So kudos. Not everything should be kept a secret.

Her own parents, the Crown Prince and Princess:

- Refused her dowry
- Refused her a wedding dress
- Refused her traditional rites before the family
- Refused to greet her fiance on their shared wedding day
- Refused to even attend the wedding itself
- Refused to allow her younger brother to see her off
