Trying to brainstorm a list of "likely" schools for my son (a junior). He's very strong academically, will probably have stats for a top school but I know many of the are just a lottery at this point and we need some likely schools to take a look at. He doesn't want a huge school but also does not want to be isolated, would prefer in or close to a city. Undecided about a major: maybe poli sci or econ but also likes math/physics. We want to look at Pitt, Oberlin, Washington U.
Has anyone here seen both Wash. U. and Case Western? I went to Wash. U., and my instinctive advice has been, “Focus more on Case Western than Wash. U.; it’s just like Wash. U., except that regular good students can get in,” but I’ve never been anywhere near Cleveland. For a good student who could major in biology but could slide into English or biology, is there any reason to favor Wash. U. over Case Western?
I don’t know much about Wash U. but for biology Case is probably one of the best schools you can go to given it’s STEM focus, research and close ties and proximity to Cleveland Clinic and University Hospitals
