Because we need to shine light into the ugly corners in order to help people understand that this happens everywhere, even in "nice" schools, "nice" towns and "nice" families. Because I don't consider it "riling up the community" to get people aware and angry about abusive, racist language. Because there need to be consequences for choosing to act that way, beyond a quiet conference with your parents and the vice principal.[/quote]

NP here. Perhaps, but do they publish info about every fight, act of vandalism, etc. Kids do stupid, harmful, sometimes illegal stuff all the time, unfortunately. [/quote]

This is very different from random vandalism or fights.  It affects the atmosphere and environment for everyone, especially for all students of color.  Kids (and families) need to see and hear that it is being taken very seriously and is unacceptable.[/quote]
