What is the best part of New Jersey to raise kids with HHI of 200k. Looking for good public schools, transportation to the city.
If you have children and the cost of college might be an issue, look at Staten Island and other places New York state (example: Yonkers; Tarrytown; Hastings on Hudson) first. Rutgers is a fine state flagship, but it’s really $40,000 a year or more, all-in, for in-state students. People in New York pay more taxes, but they have what I think is a better selection of in-state state university options. New York also has more reliable commuter rail service. If you have to live in New Jersey, at least look at Bayonne, Edgewater and Fort Lee before trusting your commute to New Jersey Transit’s commuter rail service. Maybe even consider Newark plus private school If bad commuter rail service isn’t a dealbreaker, then you might look at Montclair and South Orange when you’re looking in Maplewood
