I actually disagree with the sentiment these things are a waste. Having been thru it twice now, there are valuable aspects to them. I would NOT bank your DD future on them, but it does provide exposure to a variety of coaches and their styles. It also provides the kid a window into which coaches actually want to teach and who is just there for the cash. To PP point that 80% aren't watching, that is probably the number not watching at Tournaments, if for no other reason than competing fields. Further, several parents claim their kid's first contact came out of these kinds of events - personally, I think that's may be illusory, but that's what they claim. So, I'd say they have their place in the process. [/quote]
