In the California case, the people had no case.  There is no legal remedy to what was done now -- right or wring at the time.  The state is stepping in to do the right thing.  They could just as easily not.  PP is right.  The other cases have nothing to do with what happened in California.  But the government could step in and do something if it wanted to.

But do we want it to?  The past even 10 years back, never mind more is murky.  Even major wrongs are tough to fix when those people are no longer around.  [/quote]
