DCE trams get plenty of looks for their kids—look where the 21 and 22s are going to college.
21's played in NLF events. Story is Megill's turned down opportunity to become DC home club for NLF due to cost. When it started, DCE came in to NLF under LI Express Channy, who is a founding member. Crabs owned Maryland at the time. As NLF expanded, DC area was given a chance to have a home club. When DCE turned it down, ML jumped at the chance. DCE is now trying to work with other clubs that turned down a chance to become part of NLF to form a similar type of series of events. We'll see if they can pull it off. It is pretty clear that the best clubs play in NLF events at the present moment, although I recognize that can change very quickly. Last, NLF was formed because the elite clubs were tired of showing up at bs tourneys with unpredictable levels of competition. Everyone was tired of basically paying a ton of money for maybe a game or 2 out of 5 or 6 being actually competitive. So, those clubs all go together to build their own series of events where they would all commit to showing up to ensure a high level of competition. They would invite other club teams that had really strong certain age levels, but maybe not up/down the different ages. Think of like NL 23's right now....good for 23's, but NL doesn't have a bunch of good to great teams across the various birth years.
"It is pretty clear that the best clubs play in NLF events at the present moment" - said to the 2022 Hawks (#2 ranked but clearly #1) and 2022 DCE (#3, but strong case for #2), so missing 2 of top 3 teams in country, at least for that age group.
Hawks is an outlier for sure. DCE 22's were built when it was still apart of NLF and DCE coming off of the 21 team. We'll see how it plays out for DCE w the rest of their teams (which to date, don't scare anyone).
