I buy things I think look nice (for example I like plain or patterns but not a lot of pictures, I don't like camoflage or neon) and which they don't object to wearing. Sometimes they have preferences which I indulge within reason -- dinosaur shirts for DS, flip sequins for DD. They are young, they and their classmates don't care about "cool." But if you're shopping in the same kid stores where everyone else shops -- gap, old navy, carters, target -- it's all the same. None of the clothes there are going to make anyone stand out or get bullied (and I'm not sure avoiding certain clothes for bullying reasons is a good strategy anyway).
Yep, i agree with all this. Most of what's out there is pretty similar regardless of whether it's Carter's, Gap, or Tea Collection. Mostly I dress my boys in basic stuff (I buy a lot of Gap Factory from the store in Old Town out of convenience because I'm close by) and let them pick out some tshirts they like (like the PP does) with whatever themes they like.
