I don't think OP is stupid.  I think she is breathtakingly selfish, knows she shouldn't flush plastic applicators, but has done it for years anyway because, as she said, it is "so much easier."  She had simply assumed that most other people are as selfish as she is.  When she posted to tell us her friend had told her she should stop flushing tampon applicators and wrappers, she was expecting to a resounding collective reassurance from us that we also flush them.  She was never asking if it is OK to flush them; she just wanted reassurance that everybody else does what she chooses to do.[/quote]
