I hope he’s reinstated. We need more teacher willing to stand up and acknowledge reality. Elementary school kids should be referred by their biological pronouns.
+1. It pains me to agree with this, but things have gotten out of hand. My 2nd grader has a kid transitioning in her class.
If it pains you than maybe you shouldn't be agreeing with it! This is about calling children by the names and pronouns they prefer. I'm not sure why that is an issue for you or your child.
Do you want your daughter to be in the girls bathroom/locker room, when a boy (who claims to be a girl) enters?
So you think boys, this is specifically about elementary age kids but we can go ahead and take it though to high school if you'd like, are going to just walk into the girls bathroom/locker rooms claiming to be girls? Because that's not what's happening. A child, that identifies as a girl, likely dresses and looks like a girl is using the girls bathroom and yes, I'm 100% ok with my daughter using the bathroom with this child. In fact, I think it would be more confusing for my son to have the same child walk into the boys bathroom! Maybe it's just because I'm not a close minded, bigot and I'm raising my kids to be respectful and welcoming of all people. We have a transgender family member so maybe it's easier for us but I can't understand how this is a problem for so many people.
As there are no requirements (medical, etc.) for this switch to occur, do you really not think there will be incidents of boys going into girls bathrooms/locker rooms? If someone has truly switched sides so to speak, I don't have any issues with it, but there's such a grey area that many will drive a truck through it. Teenage boys will be teenage boys, and who takes responsibility then to what happens to the girls?
