Parent of an incoming Montessori student here. Can someone explain what this slipper talk is about please?
They change into “slippers” (really just soft soles shoes) for the classroom. Like PP said, IME most kids wear Toms or similar.
As part of the transition to coming into the classroom a lot of Montessori classes ask younger kids to change into slippers. These are just slip-on shoes (because most/all of the PK3/PK4/K contingent can't yet reliably tie their own shoes and the Montessori model is set up to meet the kids where they are so that they can do things independently) to help signify to the kids that they are entering the classroom environment. Any slip-on shoes work. In the past we've done Toms, Native, or soft-soled shoes from Target.
