I have been hanging out with 1-2 friends throughout the pandemic. My youngest has been going to preschool since the fall. Her school is very strict with covid. My older kids returned to in person school in March. Kids play outdoor sports but have done very few play dates or gatherings with friends. DH and I are now vaccinated. Kids are obviously not. I am noticing a lot of people are now traveling (flying) and gathering in larger groups with friends and family. Is everyone back to regular socializing with vaccines and covid cases so low? It feels like we are going back to normal except we still haven’t met people outside one on ones with fellow people who I think are also being cautious. I am pausing at meeting up with a friend who recently with her kids to visit family on the west coast. She is posting tons of pictures on social media.
No. The vaccination rate (full) is under 50% in most areas. That’s not high enough to go back to regular socializing. We have met vaccinated family. We socialize outdoor and masked regularly with the same five families we’ve seen this year, and have added about five more for occasional meet ups. We will drive to beach rentals this summer, and if vaccination continues apace might consider flying in three months. That’s about it.
