I EPed for a year and used the kiinde twist bags and a medala pump. There are adaptors for these bags so you can pump straight into them, they also make bottles you can put the bags into, but I didn't use those. The bottle issue is going to come down to how often you are washing bottles. We washed once per day (our kid was in daycare, so we had to send in a certain number each day, then the ones we used at home). I don't think we ever had more than 8 in rotation at any given time. My supply ended up being just enough, with no extra, so I did not really freeze ahead and mostly just pumped for the next day and kept in the refrigerator. With EPing that can be common, it really will depend on how your body reacts to pumping, which is hard to know until you do it. We also supplemented some with formula at the beginning (dd was premature which is how I ended up EPing becuase she couldn't latch). Good luck!
OP here. I have a Spectra S1 pump. I have 5 baby bottles ( comotomo and tommee tippee) but would I like more so I don’t have to wash them all of the time. He eats 8-10 times a day. We currently supplement with 1 bottle of formula day so I am putting about 4oz in the freezer. I’ve been using a large mason jar and dumping everything in it, but I read you should mix cold with warm milk, and that i should keep the pumps in individual bottles. I’ve been freezing the milk in mason jars but I want something that allows for more space.
+ shouldn’t
I had the comotomo and liked those a lot. I would get enough extra bottles over what you have now so you only have to wash once per day, so maybe 6 more of whichever bottle you prefer. I expect that the adaptor pack for those bags would also fit the Spectra, it came with a variety, and I just tested the options to find the one that worked with my pump. I used an empty pair of bags every time I pumped, but I also pumped on a schedule, and by the time my daughter was 4 months old and my supply was established, it was about 5 times per day, and I went down to 4 times per day closer to a year old when she was eating more solid food and less milk. I also washed and sterilized those bags and reused them a few times before discarding because I wasn't freezing in them, so that cut down on the number i had to buy. I did freeze some here and there and never reused those bags.
