Metro United parents - my daughter has two tryout sessions this week. I've heard "meh" things about the club, but wanted to get some insider knowledge/perspective. How's the training? Coaches? Environment? Please give me the good, the bad, and the ugly. Thanks!
What age is your DD?
She turns 12 this year, so 2009 birth group.
My DD plays in the 08 group. We really like everything about them. Pros: They film each game. This film is used when the coaches meet with the girls every six weeks to go over their film. The girls need to be proactive in setting up the meeting with coaches. They have fitness component one day a week year-round run by third party. The coaches are approachable and likeable. They have are firm about getting their point across, but aren't constant yellers. Communication is good and no volunteering is needed from the parents. Cons: The one drawback is that they don't play in many tournaments. Instead we scrimmage within the club and with other teams. They did play Jeff cup. Playing time isn't equal and you need to earn it. The mid-atlantic might be one of the weaker divisions in GA. We evaluate every year but have been happy and plan to stay for the coming year.
Thank you. This was really helpful. Have you heard any rumblings about instability within the club?
