My family moved around a bit when I was growing up and often lived away from extended family. But since I had kids, I really came to appreciate how nice it was to have my mom not too far away and to have cousins for my kids to play with on a regular basis.

That said, DH and I were planning to move to the suburbs for better schools, more space, etc., and I guess I just wonder why bother moving to a suburb neither of us is that excited about when we could seize the opportunity to make a change. We don't have many close friends in the area right now and while I enjoy my job, I think I'll be ready for a change in another year or so. My kids are little, so while it would be an adjustment, I think it would be easier now then 4-5 years down the road. [/quote]
