So my SIL probably wanted us out of her kitchen too, here is how it went. (this is a TMI rant) We were told to get there at 5. So we got there at 5:15 with our 2.5 yo and our 5 yo. They served us apps left over from a party from last weekend. (we brought some that they had requested but when we got there they said they forgot they had a bunch leftover-inlcuding the dip that sat out for hours last weekend, and had been dipped into.) I know eating with other families isn't always easy, but this was tough. Other SIL shows up with the turkey and stuffing and gravy that she always insists on cooking. We then wait 2 more hours for the nieces, they ate at their in-laws, so why we had to wait for them is beyond me. Finally, at 7:30 we eat, I swear to you I CANNOT eat the turkey, stuffing, or gravy. The turkey SIL cooked last year was pink inside, she reheated it and swore it was fine. for some reason, now I cant bring myself to eat it because I don't ever think its cooked correctly. The stuffing was green, as was the gravy. SIL keeps going on and on about how she chopped up all the giblets and put them in there. I don't know what giblets are, but they made the stuffing green so I am NOT eating that! Then I'm all freaked out about food handling, MIL brought potato salad, not mashed potatoes (good thing considering the gravy is green), and it sits out for the 2.5 hours before we ate, plus the hour drive from her house. So 3.5 hours and there is a ton of mayo, I can't bring myself to eat that either. I really did like the apple pie I brought, thank you Mrs Smith for giving me and my kids something to eat safely on thanksgiving. I love my in-laws, they are very sweet, but I was up all night with explosive diarrhea! And now I don't know if it's from the old apps, the pink turkey, the green gravy, or if it's psychosomatic Oh well, happy thanksgiving:)
