I'm pretty sure that Ward 8 has running water and electricity, unlike Texas when Cruz left for Mexico.
I'm pretty sure the percentage of people in White's ward without running water and electricity is vastly larger than any other ward. I know you think you're trying to set the record straight by being snarky and contrarian to the masses on this forum, but that's a breathlessly callous comment.
Nope he's right. Cruz left during the worst winter storm in Texas history when millions in his state were sitting in freezing homes, were dealing with disaster-level destruction from burst water pipes, hundreds died overnight, and no end in sight. On top of a vaccination crisis. Meanwhile White just left for vacation when the Biden adminstration has secured an additional 20 million one-shot doses from Johnson & Johnson for immediate delivery. So tell us - how are these the same? It's literally about the people he represents, and he declined to comment for it: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.washingtonpost.com/local/dc-vaccine-disparities/2021/03/25/f9661460-8126-11eb-81db-b02f0398f49a_story.html%3foutputType=amp Show me one instance where White has tried to get people in his ward -- again, the most lagging ward in the city when it comes to vaccine -- to get vaccinated. I cannot believe anyone is defending his actions here. There are people in these forums who spend hours yelling at people for going on vacation by themselves to a cabin in the Poconos for two nights but now Trayon White can f--- off to Egypt during a pandemic while his people suffer and people are like, "Good for him!" Gross.
I'm not sure what you're expecting. 16% of the D.C. population has been vaccinated with at least 1 dose. That's on par with the United States average. I mean sure - D.C. is small enough that the federal government could technically just give D.C. 500K doses overnight and vaccinate the whole city but how is that fair to cities like New York or Miami or states like New Hampshire which are waiting for their fair share of allocated doses? https://coronavirus.dc.gov/data/vaccination And yes this map is damning but far less people live in Ward 3 versus Ward 7 or 8. Maybe a bare minimum of leadership from an elected official during a time of crisis? What he did ain't it. Your maps also do a great job of proving the point that an Egyptian vacation from Ward 8's Council rep during all this is, at very best, tone deaf and at worst dereliction of responsibility.
