How long does the IVF process take from start to finish? Haven't done stims, but already went for bloodwork.
A lot depends on what testing and diagnostics your clinic wants to do. You had blood work done, but have you had an HSG? Does your clinic require a saline sonogram (mock transfer) before beginning? Do you need a laparoscopic procedure for diagnosis prior to proceeding? Any of those can set you back one or two months or more. if not, then from start to finish for egg retrieval can be anywhere from 4 to 8 weeks depending on whether you have to go on birth control for a month before beginning. The transfer of an embryo back in will take place either two or three days after egg retrieval if you are doing a fresh transfer, or 4 to 8 weeks if you will be freezing embryos for testing. So if you were totally clear with all diagnostics and were to start tomorrow, you could be transferring an embryo in in as little as 4 weeks, or as many as 10 to 12 weeks. As you can tell there is a lot dependent on your individual diagnosis and clinic protocol, and of course what winds up happening with your cycle and if you wind up with viable embryos to work with.
