Virus in the air can settle on masks, as well as other bacteria, and then the kids are breathing that for hours.
Huh???
People look at the benefits but not the costs of using masks. The benefit is blocking some virus exhaled and possibly even inhaled. However, cloth masks are very ineffective, and also retain moisture filling up the pores, and the air ends up moving around the mask. Studies show they only block 25%-33% of virus. Surgical masks are a little better, up to 2/3. N95 are at 95%. The cost is that the mask will absorb virus and bacteria from the air. Also, you will have people touching their masks after touching other things and possibly getting virus and bacteria that way. The evidence suggests surface spread of coronavirus(fomites) is unlikely, but other bacteria spread can happen.
Masks have been used since the times of the plague to keep people safe from airborne viruses. But you know better, right?
