Given that reality, what is a hidden gem of an area that is perhaps not as trendy or popular with the FAANG crowd, but has similar access to nature and surfing?  Any recommendations?

Budget is $1m; we can go further south, but we have loads of family in the Valley and San Francisco so would like to have reasonable access there?[/quote]
