An overseas wedding is a huge expense, and that would also probably mean we couldn't do it, even for a very good friend. If it were me, I'd explain to my friend that I was so sorry I couldn't be there, and I'd also try to do something special for her before the wedding - could you host a shower for her, or throw her a dinner party? I would also hope that as your best friend she'd realize that it's your child's birthday and would understand that it would make it hard for you to be gone then. [/quote]
