There is one advanced math program at the CC for kids in elementary school who are 3 years ahead in math, students have to be selected by GT math teacher.  However, some kids test ahead to 3 years ahead in HS (each school has their own policies) or takes math in summer school.  Recently summer school math for advancement purposes has not been allowed.

Howard county has no magnets or highly gifted programs.

In my experience the GT model doesn't work very well in elementary, but does in MS and HS.  You child will be prepared for the work at a highly selective college.[/quote]
