Christmas is at once my favorite time of the year as well as quite sad.  As you might be able to tell, I am single and have no kids.  [b]I have no doubt that the simple act of having kids makes Christmas that much more amazing[/b].

This is true, but not in the way that you think it is.

When kids come into the picture, you begin to realize the "real" meaning of Christmas. When your baby is sick with a high fever and you spend Christmas Day in the emergency room, for example, you give up a lot of these fantasies about what holidays "should" be like and you become very thankful for the imperfect people in your life that make it real.

That said, I know what you mean about wanting the magazine-spread image of Christmas for your life. I'll be interested in the responses you get to this most honest posting.[/quote]
