I've noticed ECNL has put "AQ:" in front of where teams have qualified on the standings for the Champions League and Cups. Meaning, Automatically Qualified and has seemingly locked in the teams for all post-season national events. Also, parents I know from Richmond United were told because of the difficulty in finishing any season, and some teams not competing in a lot of ENCL games, the ECNL just locked teams in for the sake of having a post-season. So, if you check the standings (https://www.ecnlgirls.com/standings/) you'll see each cup (depending on age) and champions league teams with positions from across the nation. California has relaxed restrictions on outdoor sports, so the games could still be happening in June/July at the San Diego complex. All signs point to teams are locked in and the cups/CL are set with playoff drawings happening in June. Any other ECNL clubs heard from their coach/club leaders this is the case? Even a hint this might happen?
Can yuo explain what the number means? i.e. if a team is listed as "Champions league 11", what does that mean as compared to a team listed as "Champions league 23"?
Sorry - aside from the obvious that the lower number represents a better finish. Are these numbers used as seedings, somehwo.? Or do teams play in different groups/competitions? Or...?
OP here: it's essentially your ranking among all the Champions League or Cup finishers. It's based on the average of points won per game. You'll see the top teams have like 2 games played for an average of 3.00 points (both wins obviously) and they are top. Others with more games have like 2.76 average. When they do the live drawing (usually streamed), that'll be the seeds. Like 1-8 in a pot, 9-16, etc. then they pull from the four pots to and go A-H groups to make the playoff brackets. So, if you see Champions League 11, then you are the 11th best team in the nation per those CL rankings. **COVID year** I'm not suggesting that's the end-all-be-all of rankings, that's what it means. Other PPs have said this might be true, so I'm going to plan accordingly.
Interesting. It looks like there are a minimum number of qualifiers per league as well. For example https://public.totalglobalsports.com/public/event/2046/conference-standings/12 PaceSetter SC ECNL BU16 are third in their league and appear to have qualified with a record of 0-0-1.
