New CDC study suggests this view is incorrect:

“CDC recommends that K-12 schools be the last settings to close after all other mitigation measures have been employed and the first to reopen when they can do so safely,” the authors of the report wrote."[/b]

Also:

[b]"The smaller number of cases among younger children suggest the risk for COVID-19 introduction and transmission in child care centers and elementary schools “might be lower” than reopening high schools and institutions of higher education, the authors wrote."[/b]

So it seems that there should be a priority on keeping schools open, at least at the elementary level.
