It's a lot more comfortable than a turkey baster (which I probably couldn't have even inserted - too fat) and other syringes (the narrow ones are a bit short). For me it was worth the extra expense to be gentle and kind to myself and use something more comfortable. That being said - yes there are a lot of other tools you could use which are cheaper.
