My 2 year old is going to daycare next month because I have to go to office to work. Her older sibling (5 year old) have many cloth masks (we bought way too many), but they seem too big on her. Even they are different gender, I don't mind she wears boy print masks. Is it safe for them to wear the same mask on different days as long as I wash all of them in laundry right? Or should I separate their masks, like this pile designated for him, and another pile designated for her? And, any recommendation for small masks because his masks seem a bit too big on her even though I tie the ear loop strings? One more question, her daycare requires all 2 years old & above to masks. And, I expect her to cry for a while at least for a few weeks on her first day of daycare. So, should I still send her crying with all tears & boogies "in soaking wet mask" on first few days to daycare upon dropoff? How many masks should I send to prevent soaking wet because of all crying and boogies? I feel so sad just to think about the possibility of my 2 year old crying hysterically with separation anxieties but is forced to cry behind masks with all tears and boogies on their first few days of daycare. The daycare teacher won't be that harsh and strict on this even they have rules that all kids above 2 years old have to wear masks at daycare, right?
This is OP, I forgot to clarify that I am fine with rules that 2 year old has to wear masks at daycare, but what happens if new kid cries for a long time at daycare for the first few days, will teacher take off his/her mask or kid has to cry behind mask with tears and boogies? I am concerned about safety of kids crying behind mask with tears/boogies and it seems lack of love to ease kid anxieties to adjust to new environment. I hope teachers will hold her and hug her even though they say they do social distancing. Well, I know my 2 year old will cry a lot because she has not seen or played with any kid/adult other than families since last year March, and she has been stuck at home with me the whole time. Thank you covid that I cannot have any opportunities to take her to do anything outside of home that can ease her separation and stranger anxieties. I am super concerned because of covid, they cancel all inside tour, new student orientation etc, and it would be her first time to leave home, go to daycare, meet new adult/kid plus wearing mask full day....a lot of her first time, and I have to hand her to teacher at the front door on first day. I want to cry thinking about that.
