Yes. Had a c-section at my request.
Just had a great appointment with my Dr. and talked about a plan and he would be willing to do this for me, too. Did you start worrying about fears of child birth in second trimester like me? On top of the worry, worried about whether this "worry" is irreversible and will inevitably cause behavioral probs in a child. In Therapy about it and they say all will be fine. Lets hope.
No, I had always had a horror of pregnancy and birth, and for a long time thought I didn't want children as a result. Agreed to get pregnant with the intent to seek a c-section and pay out of pocket if necessary. I was nervous until it actually happened, though -- worried I'd go into labor unexpectedly and the on-call doc would refuse to operate. I'd hoped for twins or a breech baby for that reason. I had a normally positioned singleton, uncomplicated surgery on date as planned, and good recovery ... But as soon as DC was born I was back to being horrified by pregnancy. Did not have a second child. I did see a therapist several months after delivery for PPA fears about my child's safety, and in hindsight it's obvious I am an anxious person overall. However, the birth thing is very specific and feels different from other anxieties. My sister also has the same feeling about birth. We have discussed and can't think of any experience or family circumstance that would make us both feel that way. My DC is 7 and fantastic. She's probably a bit anxious but I'd attribute that to genetically anxious parents and grandparents, not my feelings during pregnancy. Hormonal PPA can occur before birth as well as after, I'm glad you're in therapy.
