I would love to find a full time job in my field but I have been job searching with no luck for over 5 months (since graduating with my master's) despite applying to lots of jobs and doing tons of networking.  I am now looking for volunteer positions in my field to keep my skills up because I cannot find a paying, full-time or part-time job and I don't want my skills to get rusty, but in addition to that, it would just be nice to get out of the house and work for pay.  So I figured, why not get a part-time job at a retail store, while continuing to search for full-time employment in my field.  [/quote]

I think, it's a great idea.  It gets you out of the house and you earn a few $$ and hopefully get a store discount.  You might also try temping.  This may open up some doors for you.  What is your field?[/quote]
