It wasn’t meant to elicit empathy, Jeff. It was meant to educate. Any other time you would have jumped all over a poster who so openly mocks an illness.  There were several posters on that threat some of which were quite vile, I agree.  However, deleting my explanations as to why we shouldn’t use the medication terminology for trivial, undiagnosed things was only informative. I said several times that it doesn’t take away anything from OP’s suffering to call it what it is. I empathized with her and offered practical advice.

I don’t owe you or anyone else an explanation to earn your empathy. I suffered enough throughout my life. It’s only decent to request that medical terminology be used properly. It’s extremely disappointing you can’t see that. [/quote]

As you said, many posters on that thread were quite vile. What makes you think my post was directed at you? At any rate, the point about the medical diagnosis use of "PTSD" and a more layperson's use of that term was made and remains in the thread. Hijacking the thread for an extended argument about it is unnecessary.
