My negative blood test that my doctor insisted was just in my head because blood tests are never wrong is now 11.
Okay but this is 12 years later with an RE. Lab error maybe, but no REs aren’t just wrong about whether you’re pregnant.
But isn't the blood test the same? I don't think that has changed.
Not trying to question your experience, bu unfortunately years at the RE and recurrent pregnancy loss have made me a sort of reluctant expert on these matters. It could be the difference between a qualitative and quantitative test. At the RE, you'll get a beta number that could be counted as negative if it's less than 5. That could be an early chemical or it could be something in your system causing low levels of HCG (which is rare, but possible). Some labs/doctor's offices consider beta results between 6 and 25 to be indeterminate until you get a repeat beta to confirm it's rising, even though a RE would consider that a pregnancy because they need to know if there's implantation starting (relevant for figuring out infertility cause and treatment) and over 5 is high enough that it wouldn't be residual HCG not caused by pregnancy. So it's hard to compare the situations without knowing more details. So TL;DR, yes, blood test is the same, but the lab and/or doctor's interpretation could be different.
