As a resident of the EU, I'm offended. It is very stupid, playing on absurd stereotypes. 'Real' French people are not like this, and I'm sure you would rush to assure me that real Americans are not, either.
Not an EU resident but seconded. Just watch the first episode and the conversations about what French people are like are bizarre. And the portrayal of almost everyone in her office as a snob. Just comical and based on untrue and cliched stereotypes. I actually think it would be interesting to show a young American living out the move-to-Paris dream and show how the reality differs from the fantasy many Americans have. It is interesting to see how people change when they move to Paris, sometimes for the better (more nuanced understanding of cultural differences, appreciation of things the French value, but also a more sophisticated view of things like racism and misogyny which operate differently in the EU), and sometimes for the worse (I have met some people who just concluded the French are all rude snobs, and dig into their insecurities and limited experience. Anyway, I don’t think this show will be that. Though I did appreciate all the people calling her out on having zero French language skills, which is beyond lazy. And she does SO MUCH American-style “smile until you like me!” which truly does not work in France or in virtually any country outside of the Americas.
