My 6.5 year old is 48" and 46 lbs, and he's definitely grown about 2-3 inches in the last year (hasn't gained much in weight) which would put him around 45 or 46 inches last year. And he is average height based on his stats and just anecdotally seeing him next to all his friends. You may be seeing a lot of giant 5 year olds. I know that sounds silly but my DS was somehow in a cohort at preschool that made him look like a shrimp. Then he went to kindergarten and with 100+ kids instead of 8, he suddenly was in the middle of the pack instead of the shortest.[/quote]
