Here's VT's dashboard: https://ready.vt.edu/dashboard.html 5 cases so far before classes started.
That is very very low!
They don't seem to have a lot of testing results. Out of 30K plus students plus all the staff, faculty, admin etc. they only have 3658 tests on the dashboard--so it's very very early days. Though very low positivity rate for the tests they do have. All students had to self-quarantine for 14 days before coming to campus.
Interesting about the self quarantine (good idea!) I don't have a child going there but I have a few casual friends (mostly just see posts on Facebook from them these days) with kids there, and they seemed to move their kids in last weekend. Did all students move in about then, or was it a more staggered move in schedule?
They didn’t “have” to quarantine, they just have to say they quarantined. Not being argumentative but I just don’t believe enough of the kids are following the rules. Asking them to not say goodbye to their friends or hang out the last two weeks of their previous lives is too much to ask of many.
