What does it mean if your daughter was selected to play on the Orange team of the grade above hers? I assume that is better than playing on the Orange team of her grade but not as good as the Blue team of her grade? Also - why weren't there tryouts for 8th grade Blue team?
Not familiar with how this club operates, but in general once you get to the 8th grade level many of the area teams are pretty much set with rosters; thus, why they may not hold tryouts. Those clubs that do hold tryouts are more likely looking to only fill several spots and specific positions they feel will improve the team. Once the girls get to 10th grade a lot of times tryouts are limited to invitation-only. There could be several reasons your DD was asked to play up. Something to consider, when forming 9th grade teams most clubs require players to play with their own age group. This is for college recruiting purposes. Club B teams can be a bit tricky in that the skill level on the team can vary greatly depending on if the club had enough players to choose from during tryouts. Often times clubs struggle to get enough girls to tryout; thus, almost all make the B team. This results in a wide skill gap. Go with the team you feel aligns best with your DD lacrosse goals. All the best.
