You don't need to switch if baby is drinking well and not falling asleep during feedings. If baby suddenly starts to reject the bottle or takes extremely long to finish, consider switching to a faster flow. Every baby is different. Our DD seemed to like the Dr. Browns Preemie and Size 1 nipples the same, then started to get frustrated with these and we moved to Size 2 around 5-6 months. We assumed at some point she'd switch to size 3 but she never did before we phased out bottles around 13 months. I nursed until 15 months.
+1 to this. We used the size 0 until one day, baby started refusing the bottle. Sized up, he would take it, but wasn't happy about it. Sized up again (to size 2) and now he's guzzling his bottles happily, and still nursing as well without a problem.
