Our pod teacher will do all the teaching, lesson planning and extras. She will not be required to make lunches or “babysit.” Kids are 4th grade (4 kids all AAP so close in ability level). We are paying $1000 a week. That breaks down to $250 a week per family for 20 hours of instruction and 5 hours of planning time for her. She is a former teacher who didn’t feel like returning and taught 4th grade in FCPS for 15 years. Her fee is set and if a family pulls out they are liable for paying for the rest of the semester. We are re-evaluating then. We have all unenrolled our kids as well so no need to keep up with zoom lessons.
Curious how you are handling taxes? Everyone paying off the books? It would be very hard for most professional teachers to have only 4K a month in income if they are paying tax on that income. Of course, you may find someone but this seems like a low price to pay if you are doing it legitimately.
We are using a nanny service. But she is only working 25 hours a week as opposed to 45+ in the classroom. This is fun money for her as she was planning on not teaching at all. Her husband has a job that can support both of them.
