I don't recall exact heights but the rule of thumb probably works for DS.  He was high in height percentile until about age 3 and then slowed down and was at 50th until early teens and then hit his growth spurt and now at 17 is 6'0", putting him at about 80th percentile.  Dr. thinks he could get another inch before he's done.

It doesn't work for DD.  DD was always tall.  It was constantly commented on, 95th percentile from baby into middle school and then her growth slowed down. She's 15 and seems to have topped out at 5'6", same as me (although her feet are much bigger than mine).  I just looked it up and that's 75th percentile but doesn't seem that tall.   She's annoyed that she stopped growing, had wanted to 5'8" which is what her early growth pattern would have predicted but she got her period early (as did I and all the women in my family).

I don't think there's really any way to know until they are done growing. I'd never have expected DS to end up so tall or for DD to end up not particularly tall.[/quote]
