In addition to the misleading math, some of the understanding of children’s lower risk comes from other countries where they weren’t isolated in the same way. I agree with a lot of what’s said, but I do think this leaves out the largest issue of parents needing to return to work. Not all of us have jobs where we can work from home for months on end until the fall or the resources to hire in home childcare. If my other option is to send my kid to group care then they are going to have the same exposure risk as they would in school, potentially higher with none of the benefit of learning in a school setting.
