NO.  DC residents could become Maryland residents and the dc government could be separate the "DC" part.  After all, Virginia got its land back but, Maryland never did.  But I don't want to belong to a DC metro region state.[/quote]

IIRC, Maryland doesn't want DC.  So retrocession is a nonstarter.
