Close Marks
The easiest way to think through this is to think like a professional contract tracer. If Player A gets sick/tests positive, you (a professional contact tracer) would want to establish that player's "close contacts." This is a precise term that has a precise meaning:
Someone who was within 6 feet of an infected person for at least 15 minutes starting from 2 days before illness onset (or, for asymptomatic patients, 2 days prior to specimen collection) until the time the patient is isolated.
-CDC https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/php/contact-tracing/contact-tracing-plan/appendix.html#contact If soccer teammates truly meet that definition, coaches are running training incredibly stupidly. In fact, they should run training in ways that specifically avoid having teammates meet this definition, both for safety sake, and so the "dominoes" described above don't fall due to their practice. It's not hard to play soccer and not be within six feet of the same person for over 15 minutes. In fact, you are rarely and briefly that close to others (and usually a rotating cast of others) in a game. But it could happen in training--lines for drills, gaggle for a team talk, etc. This risk can be avoided if planned for properly. (Also, note how much lower the risk is, all things being equal, for the exposure being outside--could be 5x to 20x lower.) So let's figure out how to let them train and play safely, and not have one domino knock down all the others.
