While getting ready for bed, DH was trying to tell me something and was annoyed that I was replying to texts on my phone. Rather than tell me to stop, he acted huffy and told me he would email the info he was trying to tell me. I apologized but he ignored me and emailed it instead. I was mad about this and told him to stop being passive aggressive. I left the room and went downstairs to cool off and be alone. He followed me and wouldn’t leave when I asked him to leave me alone. I started yelling and swearing as he tried to explain for the third time why he wasn’t actually being a jerk and why I shouldn’t be mad at him for being passive aggressive with me. When I started swearing, he called me a trashy woman from (my LCOL hometown). Now I have to be up in 5 hours and I can’t sleep because I’m so sad and hurt. He’s “sleeping” on the couch. Ugh. 13 years of marriage and three kids and still, this BS.
Wait. Is this one of the posts where we're supposed to respond as if you're one person by attacking you and then you come in and admit that you're the other person and just wanted to be validated? Because if you're the wife in the above scenario for real, you don't have a case. In case you're still clueless, you were rude and passive aggressive - "I'm too good to listen to you, so I'll amuse myself doing something else while you repeat yourself five times, oh you have a problem that I wasn't listening while you were bothering to tell me some information? well why didn't you mention it! I surely would have given you some basic respect if you had said that I should." And if you're the one who was being rudely ignored, then yes, your spouse was being obnoxious.
