[/quote] Yes. It won’t get a vote in the Senate this year because McConnell cares more about power than about average Americans and democracy. But it’s a reasonable shot that next year brings a Dem president and Dem majorities in each house. And, as 51 for 51 outlines on their site, only 51 votes are legally needed; there are a whole bunch of legal opinions at the links above. The obstacle is persuading some Senate Dems. I think almost all are in for DC statehood, and DC just picked up three more moderate Dem Sens (WA, MI, one other state?). If I remember correctly, Sinema and maybe Manchin haven’t come out for it? The federal cop show on 16th street moved a lot of votes on this.[/quote]
