If your kid hasn't been training hard on their own during the lockdown they're never going to make it in this game.
It’s well known that 12/13 year old kids typically drop out of soccer during this age. With this pandemic, I think even more kids will drop out.
We decided to give up soccer also at u13. There’s a finality to everything and there’s nothing wrong with that. Some people know when it’s enough and focus on other things. This year is going to be a challenge anyway between having small training teams and wearing masks.
As loving parents, we all sacrifice a lot for our respective kids. My 11 year old DD seems to still like soccer right now but who knows what will change in 3, 6 or 12 months from now. I hope she continues with soccer purely for her health, her life lesson of hard work & practice and father/daughter bonding time. Nothing wrong at all if your DC changes interest as long as his/her new interest is a healthy or productive activity.
